Pre-Orthodontic Treatment &
The Myobrace Certified Provider Program

INCREASINGLY, and often as a result of their own orthodontic treatment experience, parents are forcing the agenda and generating momentum towards non-traditional orthodontic options. Rather than consent to the knowledge their children's teeth may be damaged during a course of traditional treatment and most likely relapse afterwards, parents are seeking out less invasive as well as earlier preventive options.

Three in four 21st century children have a malocclusion caused by poor myofunctional habits and incorrectly developing jaws. This incorrect or inhibited development is easily identifiable in children as young as three to five-years-old but professional advice usually recommends delaying treatment until the child is approximately 12.

Unfortunately, in most practices early orthodontic options have never found favour after being dismissed as less efficient than traditional treatment methods and the opportunity for pre-orthodontic preventive treatment is most often missed.

However, once the myofunctional causes of malocclusion and incorrect facial growth have been recognised, early preventive options offer exceptional prospects for natural development and stable results without invasive treatments.

PRE-ORTHODONTIC treatment unlocks genetic growth potential and straightens
teeth naturally.

The Myobrace System caters to the escalating public insistence on non-invasive, earlier and more stable treatments by addressing the causes inhibiting a child's natural facial development as soon as they become evident. Rather than rely on extractions to create extra space for the teeth, braces to force teeth into alignment or surgery to re-shape the jaws, Myobrace® treatment involves wearing a sequence of removable intra-oral appliances, for an hour each day and overnight while sleeping, in conjunction with completing a range of Myobrace Activities best described as physiotherapy for the growing face.

This early, preventive treatment means while many of their peers will be just starting to undergo traditional orthodontics, with questionable long-term benefits, Myobrace® children will have undergone a pre-orthodontic option designed to unlock genetic growth potential and straighten teeth naturally. The Myobrace System offers a new and fresh approach to addressing the public demand for modern pre-orthodontic treatment options and by becoming part of the Myobrace Certified Provider program, dental professionals can offer their patients this more natural approach to straightening teeth.

The Myobrace Certified Provider program was initiated to help enable practitioners to confidently offer myofunctional pre-orthodontic treatment options. The program equips members to treat a wide variety of patients while reducing chair-side time but still generating financial benefit for both practitioner and patient. Video Tip - Adjusting BWS Bands

This month's video tip is Part II of Dr Dan Hanson's series detailing troubleshooting techniques for the BWS System. When a patient's soft tissue dysfunction needs to be treated while simultaneously expanding the arch form the BWS is a superior appliance but low crown heights can make putting the bands on difficult.

Case Study

The case below is a male, age 13 years 8 months and was treated at Myobrace® Center Brunswick Heads for 98 days. Of note is the improvement in the male patient's upper arch-form and lower alignment, which is typical of improved tongue position.

Comments from Doctors

Hans A. Kurtz DDS Re. The Myobrace System

I am a general dentist and have worked with fixed orthodontics for 20 years. In many cases, I have been unhappy with the treatment results, especially the tendency for relapse and having to inform my patients they will need to wear their retainers for life to prevent it.

When I heard about The Myobrace System and attended an MRC course with Dr Barry Raphael in Clifton NJ, as well as an additional orofacial myofunctional therapy course, I was excited to discover what seemed to me a missing link in what I had been taught about orthodontic treatment.

It made sense to me that most malocclusions are caused by soft tissue dysfunction and if we can treat the functional problem early enough the malocclusion can be corrected, in many cases, without the need for a fixed appliance.

I am now six months down the road on this journey, generously supported by MRC, to provide patients with what I believe to be better, healthier, therapy. The results so far have been exciting both for my patients and myself.

Dr Nancy Sutera Re. The Myobrace System

The Myobrace® courses in California and New Jersey were very informative and two of the best seminars I have ever attended. The material was well presented and MRC's support staff are knowledgeable as well as helpful.

The Myobrace System allows me to treat patients who would otherwise have their muscle imbalance and malocclusion worsen while going untreated or even mistreated. I am very pleased in the progress I have seen so far with the patients I have started on the treatment.

Information available online, which includes the website material and Dr Raphael's Spreecast presentations has also been very helpful. I could not be more pleased with the doctors and staff in the organisations who have been available to guide and mentor me.
