Part 2 - Clinical Application of Myofunctional Therapy for Myobrace

Completion of both modules will result in qualification as a 'Myobrace Certified Educator'. The course is open to Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienists, Oral Health Therapists, Dentists, Orthodontists and Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, ENTs and Sleep Physicians.Myofunctional Therapy is now considered the 'missing link' in orthodontics, sleep apnea and TMD treatment. The largest Myofunctional Therapy company in the world, Myofunctional Research Co., is now offering a hands-on mini-residency..
 
The course will include the basics in anatomy and physiology of the Orofacial Musculature. However, it will be the first course globally to also offer real patient contact as part of the training process.

  • Functional anatomy and physiology, related to breathing and orofacial musculature
  • Myobrace Activities intensive workshop and troubleshooting
  • Live patient observation in the world's largest myofunctional practice
  • How to conduct a proper consultation and evaluation of myofunctional disorders
  • Case studies
  • Habit elimination (eg thumb sucking)
  • Latest research and exercises related to Sleep Disordered Breathing and Sleep Apnoea
  • How to conduct a Myobrace Educators (ME) Check: A myofunctional evaluation form completed at each appointment to accurately quantify improvement and thereby determine progression of treatment plan
  • How to conduct an Activities Support Session: A special myofunctional troubleshooting appointment if treatment is not progressing as expected
  • Hands-on record taking (including photos and video)
  • Hands-on live patient experience: Treat our patients under our supervision!
 
LECTURERS:

Dr Madeeha Khan B Oral Hlth (Dent Sci), Grad Dip Dent (Griffith) Dr Khan completed her studies in dentistry at Griffith University in 2016, achieving Awards for Academic Excellence over three consecutive years. Dr Khan was born in Brisbane and has been working at the Myobrace Pre-Orthodontic Center since completing her dental degree at Griffith University and continues to practice dentistry in Brisbane. Throughout her time at university, she believed there was more to dentistry than drilling and filling teeth. She is passionate about improving the overall health of children, and her desire to work at the Myobrace Pre-Orthodontic Center stemmed from her belief that early intervention can change the face of paediatric health. With a calm and gentle demeanour, she strives to make every patient’s experience a friendly and enjoyable one.

 

Jess Maidman - Jessica Maidman has been in the dental industry since 2006 and joined Myofunctional Research Co. in 2012. Her passion for improving the health of all children combined with her lively enthusiastic personality and years of experience in paediatric dentistry make her a wonderful addition to the MRC team. After working in Myobrace Pre-Orthodontic Centre® for the past five years, Jessica is now the Senior Educator for Myobrace®, offering support, education and training to Myobrace® members and assisting practitioners to implement The Myobrace System®. Jessica is also apart of the MRC lecturing team and is passionate about sharing the Myobrace® philosophy around the world.
