MRC 3 Day International Myofunctional Orthodontic, TMJ & Sleep Disordered Breathing Symposium 2019

8:30 AM Thu, July 25, 2019 - 5:00 PM Sat, July 27, 2019

MRC 3 Day International Myofunctional Orthodontic, TMJ & Sleep Disordered Breathing Symposium 2019

The Dental profession is increasingly being drawn into a role of diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. With the growing number of "Dental Sleep Medicine" courses on offer, there is a need to evaluate which of these gives the widest and most clinically orientated educational program. Furthermore, TMJ disorder remains a subject of great confusion among dentists, with the newly qualified practitioners having less knowledge of this subject than even their basic orthodontic skills.

The inaugural TMJ Sleep Dentistry Symposium by MRC will be the first to put the complete picture together. From treating a clicking joint, to evaluating and treating sleep disorders in Adults and children, this symposium will cover diagnostic and treatment procedures for TMJ disorder and sleep disorders as well as show you how to seamlessly integrate it all with Myofunctional Orthodontic procedures.

Why? Because Sleep disorders, TMJ disorders and malocclusion are integrated and, in most patients, require seamless diagnosis and treatment procedures to prevent inadequate and incomplete outcomes.

This symposium will define a new syndrome known as TMJBDS - Teeth Muscles Jaw Breathing Disordered Sleep Syndrome.

Learning outcomes:
• Understanding why TMJ disorder and Sleep disorders most commonly occur together.
• Why the "gold standard" for treating Obstructive Sleep Apnoea produces negative results despite being a billion-dollar business.
• Understanding TMJ disorder and how to provide immediate pain relief for many patients.
• Paediatric Sleep Dentistry - Myosa for Kids - published research shows its effectiveness.
• New diagnostic procedures for TMJBDS - Breathing, Joint, Muscle and CBCT evaluation.
• Newly developed Myosa® treatment protocols to be released in 2018.
• Patient education for TMJBDS.
• Treating the causes not just the symptoms - a novel approach not addressed by conventional Medical and Dental treatment protocols.

Dr. Chris Farrell BDS Sydney - Dr. Chris Farrell graduated from Sydney University in 1971 having gained a comprehensive knowledge of traditional orthodontics using the BEGG technique. Through clinical experience Dr Farrell took an interest in TMJ/TMD disorder and following further research he discovered the etiology of malocclusion and TMJ disorder was myofunctional which contradicted the established views of his profession. Dr Farrell founded Myofunctional Research Co. (MRC) in 1989 to develop myofunctional appliances that would prove effective in early orthodontic treatment. His Trainer and Myobrace® appliance systems are now used by orthodontists and dentists in more
than 100 countries.

Dr Madeeha Khan - Grad.Dip Dent. (Griffith) - Dr Madeeha Khan has been working at the Myobrace Pre-Orthodontic Centre® since 2016. Throughout her time at university, she believed there was more to dentistry than just drilling and filling teeth. This belief was further cemented through her experience with patients, young and old.

Dr Khan is passionate about improving the overall health of children, her desire to engage in The Myobrace System® stemmed from her belief that early intervention can change the course of paediatric health. Dr Khan is responsible for providing treatment support, education and advice to Myobrace® members and practitioners in Australia and internationally.

At the beginning of 2017, Dr Khan joined the MRC lecturing team to share her knowledge and passion for The Myobrace System®, and its.

Dr Emad Ahangari - B Oral H (Dent.Sci), Grad.Dip Dent. (Griffith) - Dr Emad Ahangari completed his studies in dentistry at Griffith University Gold Coast (Qld, Australia) in 2014, achieving Awards for Academic Excellence over three consecutive years.

After graduation Dr Ahangari worked in Canada for nearly two years and continues to expand his knowledge in the field. He has been fortunate to receive mentoring directly by two of the biggest global authorities on myofunctional orthodontics, Dr John Flutter and Dr Chris Farrell.

Dr Ahangari excels in communication, has a passion for teaching and looks forward to expanding his knowledge and skills in the hopes of one day being a notable figure in the movement to revolutionise the way professionals and the public view crooked teeth and other myofunctional-related health issues.

Jess Maidman has been in the dental industry for five years and has been working for Myofunctional Research Co. since 2012. Her passion for improving the health of all children combined with her lively enthusiastic personality and years of experience in paediatric dentistry make her a wonderful addition to the MRC team. After working in Myobrace® Pre-Orthodontic Centres for the past five years, Jessica is now the Senior Educator for Myobrace®, offering support, education and training to Myobrace® members and assisting practitioners to implement The Myobrace® System. Jessica is also apart of the MRC lecturing team and is passionate about sharing the Myobrace® philosophy around the world.
