MRC USA 5-Day Summit 2020 - Rancho Cucamonga, USA

8:59 AM Mon, August 17, 2020 - 4:59 PM Fri, August 21, 2020

The Myobrace® System

Traditionally, the view among orthodontists was that mechanical symptom correction was the only means of treating genetically inevitable malocclusion. Focus has shifted from the technical and mechanical excellence of the past and dental professionals are increasingly looking towards more health driven, biological, evidence-based and effective approaches to correcting malocclusion. As the incidence of malocclusion in 21st century children approaches 100 per cent the demand for orthodontic treatment has never been greater.

       MYOBRACE® K1/BWS - K2 - T3 - T4

Follow up courses will show you how to integrate Myofunctional Orthodontics into any

MRC USA 5-Day Summit 2020

MRC is dedicated to ensuring Myobrace® Certified Providers receive the support necessary to become an even more successful Myobrace® practitioner. The annual MRC US Summit is a great opportunity for Myobrace Certified Providers and likeminded practitioners to network with other professionals, find out about the latest developments in appliances and myofunctional orthodontic techniques as well as learn about the most recent advances in patient education and compliance programs. The 5-day summit includes workshops regarding how to diagnose and treat airway dysfunction and TMJ disorder as well as advanced myofunctional orthodontic and expansion techniques course presented by MRC CEO and founder Dr. Chris Farrell and other leading practitioners.

LECTURERS:
Dr. Chris Farrell - Through clinical experience, Dr. Farrell took an interest in TMJ / TMD Disorder and after further research discovered the etiology of malocclusion and TMJ Disorder was myofunctional, which contradicted the established views of his profession. Dr. Farrell founded MRC in 1989 to develop myofunctional appliances to be effective in early orthodontic treatment.  The Trainer and Myobrace® appliance systems are now used by dentists and orthodontists in more than 100 countries.

Dr. Ana Lorena Gomez - Dr. Gómez has practiced general dentistry for 27 years. Her practice is exclusively orthodontics for 17 years. In 2009 she incorporated The Myobrace® System as a regular treatment for her patients. This resulted in an increase in the number of patients treated and better results in stability of cases and facial Harmony. Dr. Gómez shares her experience of how she changed the way of doing the initial diagnoses, incorporating the Myofunctional Evaluation of the patient, and by doing this, the problem of bad function can be addressed early and a Integral Preventive Orthodontic treatment is then implemented, changing the way the delivery of care was given.

Dr. Barry Raphael - Dr Raphael has close to three decades experience working as an orthodontic practitioner.  In recent years, he has recognised the benefits myofunctional therapy provides to both his patients and his practice and has firsthand experience moving from a tooth-centric philosophy of orthodontic mechanotherapy to a muscle-centric philosophy of orofacial development.

Dr. German Ramirez-Yañez - For more than 20 years Dr. Ramirez-Yañez has worked to treat malocclusion in the early stages using functional appliances.  He is well published, regarding functional appliances and the biological rationale for functional treatment, in peer reviewed journals and has written a book focused on looking in depth at craniofacial growth and development, the patho-physiology of functional disorders in the craniocervico-mandibular system and how the craniofacial structures are modified by functional appliances.

Dr. Soroush Zaghi Dr. Zaghi is a graduate of Harvard Medical School, UCLA Otolaryngology (ENT) residency, and Stanford Sleep Surgery Fellowship. He is very active in clinical research with over 60+ peer-reviewed research journal publications and is a recognised leader on advancing standards of care for sleep-disordered breathing and tongue-tie surgery. He is now in practice in Los Angeles, CA in the United States through The Breathe Institute where the focus of his clinical practice and research efforts is now on understanding the impact of tethered oral tissues on sleep-disordered breathing and maxillofacial development in children and as a risk factor for upper airway resistance syndrome and obstructive sleep apnoea in adults.

Dr. Chris Norton - Dr. Norton graduated from SMU and Baylor Dental School in Dallas. He has practiced orthodontics and general dentistry in Dallas and Santa Fe, NM. He spent four years as Dental Director for Amarillo College. He has practiced orthodontic treatment, TMD, and sleep apnea in Salt Lake City and McKinney, TX.

Dr. John Mew - Dr. Mew graduated at University College London, and then trained in Orthognathic surgery. Seeking alternatives to facial surgery, he moved to the speciality of orthodontics in 1965. Since then he has been developing non-surgical methods of correcting unattractive vertical growth in children's faces, using 'orthotropics' to encourage horizontal growth. Dr. Mew serves as a practising clinician and his principal research interests are the etiology of malocclusion and the guidance of facial growth.

Dr. Madeeha Khan - Dr. Khan completed her studies in dentistry at Griffith University in 2016, achieving Awards for Academic Excellence over three consecutive years. Dr. Khan was born in Brisbane and has been working at the Myobrace Pre-Orthodontic Center since completing her dental degree at Griffith University and continues to practice dentistry in Brisbane. Throughout her time at university, she believed there was more to dentistry than drilling and filling teeth. She is passionate about improving the overall health of children, and her desire to work at the Myobrace Pre-Orthodontic Center stemmed from her belief that early intervention can change the face of paediatric health. With a calm and gentle demeanour, she strives to make every patient’s experience a friendly and enjoyable one.

Patrick McKeown - For the past fifteen years, Patrick McKeown has delivered training in Breathing Re-Education to healthcare professionals and the general public with sleep disordered breathing and breathing pattern disorders. As part of his work, he has collaborated in four clinical trials investigating Breathing Re-education for asthma and rhinitis. A speaker on TED talks, Patrick is the author of eight books including two best sellers for asthma. His latest book is titled “The Oxygen Advantage” and explores improving sports performance in athletes.

Dr. Michael Gelb - Dr. Gelb is a world-renowned TMJ and Sleep Specialist with practices in both New York City and White Plains. He received his D.D.S degree from Columbia University of Dental Medicine and his M.S. from SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. The Gelb Center was founded over 30 years ago by Dr. Michael Gelb's father, Dr. Harold Gelb. Since then, Dr. Michael has taken his father's findings to the next level through his airway centric integrated therapy. Dr. Michael Gelb is dedicated to improving his patients' health by reducing pain and restoring refreshing sleep.

Peter Helderop - Mr. Helderop is a speech therapist at the University of Applied Sciences in Leiden, The Netherlands. He opened his first practice in Vlaardingen in 1989. Peter gained several postgraduate qualifications in orofacial myofunctional, voice, stuttering, speech and language therapy both in The Netherlands and other countries. He has served on many working groups and committees for the Dutch Association for speech therapists and Phoniatrics (NVLF) and has also been a member of the Myofunctional Therapy Working Group in Germany. He contributed to the development of the Dutch Dental Association (NMT) paediatric dentistry guidelines and is also a (guest) lecturer on the Paediatric Dentistry course taught at the Academic Centre for Dentistry in Amsterdam (ACTA) and the Continuing Education Program in Comprehensive Dentistry (CEPCD) in Oisterwijk. Peter has been teaching continuing education courses on speech therapy and dentistry orofacial myofunctional therapy for more than 25 years.

Dr. William Hang - Dr. Hang has committed his career to advancing a paradigm of thinking in orthodontics that rejects traditional retractive techniques in patients of all ages. His Face Focused treatment techniques are designed to: develop the jaws forward, never backward; create better facial balance & more pleasing facial appearance; protect and/or expand the airway; and produce broad smiles that are complete to the corners of the mouth. When it comes to orthodontics Dr. Hang does not believe that one treatment can fit every patient, but he always strives to keep treatment times shorter rather than longer.
