MRC Global Summit: 10-Year Anniversary!

OVERVIEW

10 years of international meetings of founders, researchers, legends and like-minded practitioners under one roof. Join the celebration where we will share our journey, celebrate the milestone and make new memories as we discuss the evolution of myofunctional airway orthodontics!

MRC’s International Summit will teach you the myofunctional evaluation system to identify breathing and myofunctional problems limiting facial growth and causing malocclusion, as well as provide you with the ability to treat myofunctional problems evident in almost every child.

Participants will be introduced to MRC’s range of products and services and learn to use the Myofunctional Orthodontic Evaluation (MOE) to evaluate their patients, how to select the appropriate myofunctional appliance, as well as adjunctive activities to maximise treatment.

Our curated staff will guide you in transitioning your practice by integrating systems to ensure that your patients are diagnosed early, treated effectively, and have a stable, healthier future after completing the program.

AGENDA

  • Identifying, evaluation and diagnosis of the underlying causes of malocclusion;
  • Diagnosis and treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and breathing disorders in adults and children;
  • Myofunctional orthodontics: Treating the causes rather than the symptoms, with evaluation and discussion of cases included;
  • Effectively educating parents and patients to achieve consistent results;
  • An extensive presentation of treatment possibilities with MRC’s treatment systems (Myobrace®, Myosa®, Myosa® for TMJBDS®);
  • Treatment planning and case discussion.

COURSE FEE

$250 USD per day or $1000 USD for all 5 days

Key Presenters

Dr Chris Farrell
BDS

Dr Chris Farrell graduated from Sydney University in 1971 having gained a comprehensive knowledge of traditional orthodontics using the BEGG technique. Through clinical experience, Dr Farrell took an interest in TMJ/TMD disorder and, following further research, he discovered the aetiology of malocclusion and TMJ disorder was myofunctional, contradicting the established views of his profession. Dr Farrell founded Myofunctional Research Co. (MRC) in 1989 to develop myofunctional appliances that would prove effective in early orthodontic treatment. His Trainer and Myobrace® appliance systems are now used by orthodontists and dentists in more than 100 countries around the world.

Patrick McKeown
MB, MBA, Dip BM, FBP

Patrick McKeown was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, completing his clinical training in Russia. Since 2002, he has taught functional breathing to help children and adults with insomnia, snoring and sleep apnea. Patrick’s article, 'Breathing Re-Education and Phenotypes of Sleep Apnea: A Review', co-authored with Drs. Carlos O'Connor-Reina and Guillermo Plaza, is published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine.

'The Breathing Cure' (2021), Patrick’s newest book, is a deep dive into the science of breathing.  It explores functional breathing for a wide range of health conditions, and breathing exercises suitable for adults, children and teens.

Dr Barry Raphael

Now, Dr Raphael offers a wide range of integrative techniques designed to help children grow in the best possible way and to help adults find wellness, not just symptomatic relief.  He teaches these concepts at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, at the Raphael Center for Integrative Education, nationally and internationally. Dr Raphael is working closely with the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) to move the practice of dentistry forward in the 21st century.

Dr Chris Norton
DDS

He spent four years as Dental Director for Amarillo College. He has practised TMD, sleep apnea and orthodontic treatment in Salt Lake City and McKinney, both Texas. Dr Norton is currently the orthodontic provider for Abbeville Dentistry. He continues to provide orthodontic, TMD and sleep apnea treatment in Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, Odessa and Big Spring. Dr Norton refers to himself as an airway dentist. He looks to correct the cause of an issue, rather than simply the aesthetic symptoms. His goal is to convert others to also addressing the causes and underlying issues that affect our everyday dental patients.

Dr Soroush Zaghi
BS, MD

Dr Zaghi is a graduate of Harvard Medical School, UCLA Otolaryngology (ENT) residency, and Stanford Sleep Surgery Fellowship. He is very active in clinical research with over 60+ peer-reviewed research journal publications and is a recognised leader on advancing standards of care for sleep-disordered breathing and tongue-tie surgery. He is now in practice in Los Angeles, CA, in the United States through The Breathe Institute where the focus of his clinical practice and research efforts is now on understanding the impact of tethered oral tissues on sleep-disordered breathing and maxillofacial development in children and as a risk factor for upper airway resistance syndrome and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) in adults.

Dr Ana Lorena Gómez

Dr Ana Lorena Gómez has practiced general dentistry for 27 years. Her practice was exclusively orthodontics for 17 years, however, she incorporated The Myobrace® System as a regular treatment for her patients in 2009. This resulted in an increase in the number of patients treated and better results in stability of cases and facial harmony. Dr Gómez shares her experience of how she changed the way of doing the initial diagnoses, incorporating myofunctional evaluations and, in doing so, was able to address the problem of bad function earlier and as part of an integral preventive orthodontic treatment, changing the way the delivery of care was given.
