Myotalea Tongue & Lip Press - TLP
Targeted improvement of the tongue, lip and airway muscles
The TLP focuses on improving the strength and tone of the tongue, lip and airway muscles. The appliance was the precursor to the TLJ appliance and can be used in a similar way, minus the jaw exercises. The unique advantage of the TLP is that the press tube is not fixated into an appliance, which allows targeted training especially in the middle and posterior thirds of the tongue. The TLP can be used with all of MRC's treatment systems or by practitioners providing myofunctional therapy.
Directions for Use
The Myotalea® appliances provide treatment for patients with symptoms of Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders (SRBD) or Breathing Disordered Sleep (BDS) and jaw joint dysfunction. Patients who present poor muscle tone in the tongue, lip, jaw, throat or airway areas are suitable for Myotalea® treatment.
Tongue Exercise: Step 1
Position the press tube between the tongue and the roof of the mouth.
Tongue Exercise: Step 2
Compress the entire body of the tongue firmly against the press tube into the roof of the mouth. Hold for five (5) breaths while keeping lips together and breathing lightly through the nose.
Lip Exercise: Step 1
Position the middle of the TLP between the lips, just in front of the teeth.
Lip Exercise: Step 2
Maintain tongue in the roof of the mouth and press lips firmly together to compress the press tube closed. Hold for five (5) breaths while breathing lightly through the nose.
Cleaning the Myotalea TLP
The Myotalea® appliance should be cleaned under warm running water every time the patient removes it from their mouth.
Use Myoclean™ tablets to thoroughly clean twice a week. Myoclean™ is the recommended cleaning agent for all MRC appliances.
