Improvement of breathing, tongue and chewing function, plus oral hygiene
The Myochew™ has been specially designed for young children to encourage nasal breathing and improve the function of the tongue and chewing muscles, while bristle projections assist with oral hygiene. The appliance is also suitable for special needs children, who are especially prone to the previously mentioned issues. The Myochew™ provides children with a fun and effective way of correcting the problems that hinder dental and jaw development, while improving nasal breathing and oral hygiene. The Myochew™ can be combined as an adjunct in MRC's treatment systems, but is mainly used out of the box by patients directly.
Myochew Design Features
The design features of the Myochew™ are ideally suited to provide active training for the muscles of the lips and tongue, as well as the chewing muscles, while encouraging nasal breathing and improving oral hygine.
Directions for Use
The Myotalea® Myochew™ is designed for young children aged two to eight, compatible with special needs, to actively exercise the tongue, lips and chewing muscles, while encouraging nasal breathing. It also has in-built bristles which assist in cleaning the teeth.
Hold the Myochew™ with the tongue press tube facing upwards.
Place the Myochew™ into the mouth, keep the lips together and breathe through your nose.
Press your tongue against the tongue press tube to exercise the tongue muscles or gently chew on the appliance to exercise chewing muscles.
For very young children, you can attach the optional detachable strap to prevent the Myochew™ from falling on the floor.
Cleaning the Myotalea Myochew
Clean the Myochew™ appliance under warm running water every time you remove it from the mouth. The Myochew™ can be sterilised in boiling water if required, though this may decrease the life of the appliance.
Alternately use Myoclean™ tablets to correctly clean twice per week. Ask your health professional about Myoclean™, the recommended cleaning agent for all MRC appliances.
