Myosa® for TMJBDS® Stage 3 - S3

Establish nasal breathing and correct TMJ function

The Myosa^® for TMJBDS^® S3 is used in the third and final stage of treatment, when the patient's Breath Hold Time (BHT) has reached 45 seconds or more. The S3 is primarily designed to finalise the establishment of nasal breathing, while improving breathing and myofunctional disorders. The S3 can also serve as a transition appliance between the first and second phase of TMJBDS^® treatment, involving arch development in combination with the Myobrace^® appliances. It is for this reason that the S3 is a derivative of the Myobrace^®A1 appliance.

Directions for Use

The Myosa^® appliance is to be used for one to two hours each day, plus overnight while sleeping. The patient's teeth may become slightly sensitive in the early stages of treatment. This is quite normal, however, if pain becomes excessive, decrease application time with the aim to build it back up once the appliance is accustomed to and sensitivity subsides. The Myosa^® appliance may change the position of the teeth and jaws, though the flexibility of the appliance minimises this potential.

Hold the Myosa^® appliance with the tongue tag facing up.
Step 2
Place the Myosa^® appliance into your mouth.
Step 3
Keep your tongue positioned on the tongue tag.
Step 4
Close down on the Myosa^® appliance and feel it working to align your front teeth and jaws.
Step 5
Keep your lips together and breathe through your nose.
